HTML5 Got Logoed

January 18, 2011 in Logos One Comment already

W3C has taken a bold move and unveiled their HTML5 logo, or more correctly an umbrella brand for all technologies spearheading front-end web development such as CSS3, SVG, etc.

The shape of the logomark is very reminiscent of a shogi piece, even though its strategic reach is more questionable than this analogy would imply. The brandification of everything is the name of the game, and W3C is ready to join in the fun.

The icons above were also unveiled as a part of the new identity, riding the wave of minimalism as a sure-fire way to attract legions of web designers and incentivize them to adopt it.
